The Department of Microbiology deals with the diagnosis and proper advisory on the treatment of Infectious diseases. Integration of various well built with State of the art museum, Research laboratory, sophisticated diagnostic laboratories like Bacteriology, Immunology, Virology, Parasitology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology and Serology with a strong base of well trained Microbiologist from various part of India gives a cutting edge in the patient care.
Key Features
Integration (Horizontal & Vertical) to provide the holistic approach in teaching the clinical Microbiology to the UG student in an endeavor to develop the competent Indian Medical Graduate. Regular evaluation, feedback and innovative methods for UG teaching are employed by self motivated and MET trained faculties.
Department is using the “WHONET” for reporting of Culture reports is in process of developing an antibiotic policy as a part of containment of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) and implementation of the same through Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC).
Department is involved in the National programs & helping build a strong network of patient care. Department is having a Designated Microscopic center under Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) and striving hard to get a center for Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (CBNAAT) at RIMS.
Department has already signed an MOU with Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Society (CGSACS) for running a Integrated Counseling & Testing Center (PPP-ICTC) and will develop the same into a Model ICTC center in the region in service to patients leaving with HIV/AIDS.
Good Research and Academic Environment to carry out research in the thrust areas in line with the State and National Thrust areas. The same research aptitude is percolated to the UG students through Short Term Studentship program of ICMR (STS-ICMR) to teach them research methodology.
